about

Stacked with airtight rhythmic angles and disorienting synthesized textures, "Pluto Chakras" can easily buzz past the ears before its complexities have been unpacked. Despite that, the song’s scattered pieces- looped whistles, nimbly woven mantra-like melodies, and the dizziest of percussive grooves- form a sound that is oddly and undeniably catchy. Jon Coyle and Joel Gleiser, the band’s primary vocalists, wax poetic on forging ahead through turbulent times (“I’m in the place of changing / Nowhere to put my face in now”) while paradoxically leaving a convincing feeling of joy in the air. It all makes for a listen that is funky, rewarding, and strange.

lyrics

I’m in the place of changing
Nowhere to put my face in now
Even in my way, No, Even in my way
Making my way will shape me now

In any day I try to hold myself it helps to
In any day I get to lose myself I see it helps to
I’m not about to let a moment go to waste around me
I’m not about to set a day to paces I cannot see

Deeper and deeper
